An accused burglar is on the run after leading police on a high-speed chase across the Twin Cities.
Officers chased 27-year-old Grayson Lee Clevenger from Burnsville to western Wisconsin and back again. Burnsville Police say he is wanted for first degree burglary.
According to police, at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday Burnsville detectives responded to an apartment complex at 1501 E. Burnsville Parkway to arrest Clevenger in connection with a burglary case. When they arrived, they saw a person matching the suspect's description get into a grey 2005 Dodge Durango.
Police said that vehicle came back as stolen out of Brooklyn Park. They followed the vehicle until marked patrol cars were able to catch up and attempt to stop Clevenger in the Durango.
The suspect accelerated at a high rate of speed northbound on Interstate 35E and would not stop for the marked squads, according to Burnsville Police. Burnsville called off their cars at I-35E and Highway 110, and the chase was picked up by the Minnesota State Patrol and other metro agencies.
At one point during the case, investigators called Clevenger's cell phone in hopes of getting him to stop. However, he answered the phone saying, "Dude, I can't talk, I'm being chased by police" and hung up.
According to police, Clevenger ditched the stolen car in a Minneapolis neighborhood and hasn't been seen since. Anyone with information on Clevenger's whereabouts is asked to call police.
